She is best known for the role for Tiana in The Princess and the Frog as the first African American Disney princess. Disney Legends named her the 2011's most popular character. She also has a starring role, as Lorrell Robinson, in Dreamgirls (2007) that received nominations for the Academy Award. And she plays LaVerne jukebox Ganner on Starz's series Power.
